My name is Gema Gomez and I live in the UK. Over time, my partner and I have realised we are makers, we like to learn to do and create new things, we are engineers at heart.
I enjoy sewing and fabric crafts, designing and doing any other creative activity for fun. During the day I work as a software engineer. When I am not working, I like to pick up my needles, crochet hook or sewing machine(s) and create something amazing from scratch. Or my computer. I love experimenting with textures and colors (paper, fabric, yarn, thread, paint). Digitizing ideas to be able to sew them or create with them is also something I keep doing and learning about, for example being able to digitize a design and them embroider it with my embroidery sewing machine. For more details check out my blog knitpick.me.
I have been learning to play different musical instruments for years, and I think I will never excel at any. I enjoy the learning process. Because the last instrument I tried to learn was guitar, and to be able to play the guitar you better be able to sing too, I have been taking singing lessons. It is an interesting journey to discover how to use your own voice to produce notes.
I enjoy travelling with my partner and taking picture of the places we visit. Lately, we've been learning to do post processing of raw images and getting them ready to enjoy, pruning those that are not great to keep around (this seems to be the most difficult aspect of the process). We'd love to start printing them and using them as art. The type of trips we do are remote country visits and also local hiking trips in the UK. On weekends, we enjoy the odd night out whilst doing some hiking and bird watching. Sustainability and nature are really close to our hearts.
This is my digital garden. I am experimenting with a few things until I get it to a point where I like the design and can focus on the writing.
